Framing Options

Curated by the Artist

Shopping for art online can be perplexing. Photographed objects can look different than the real thing. Colors can look different on different monitors.

This is why I have personally curated most of the frame and mat combinations offered on my site. I have samples of the frames and mats and have selected the combinations against the art under controlled lighting. I consider each piece separately and determine my recommended offerings based on the colors in the art and the style of the frame.

Here you will find details and comparisons of the framing I have curated. If you’d like something different, feel free to contact me with your ideas.

The Frames

Natural

Fruitwood

Mahogany

Mahogany is a dark, smooth grained wood veneer with a reddish brown hue and deep red undertones. This option is more red and lighter in hue than Walnut and darker than Fruitwood.

The photographs provided by the supplier appears to me to be more brown with little or no red when compared with the actual sample I have.

Charcoal

Walnut is a dark, smooth grained wood veneer with a deep brown hue. This option is darker than Fruitwood and Walnut and is the darkest brown offering.

Black

The painted frames are smooth grained wood veneer with a nuetral tone. No wood grain is visible with the colored options. Black is a traditional gallery frame color. Purple is a whimsical choice for one of my prints.

Charcoal is a dark, smooth grained wood veneer with a cool dark gray, almost black hue. This option has no earth tone hues.

Natural is a light colored, smooth grained wood veneer reminiscent of pine in color. It is the lightest of all my offerings.

Fruitwood is a popular choice and is sometimes out of stock. Fruitwood is a medium dark, smooth grained wood veneer with a brown hue with subtle dark brown undertones.
